About the Turkmenistan International Media Forum

The forum was attended by about 70 delegates and covered three major themes: smart cities, urban eco-culture, and urban ecological conservation. This gathering presented a unique opportunity to discuss and explore the new era of smart city development that Turkmenistan is venturing into.

Details of Arkadag: First Smart City for Turkmenistan

Located 30 kilometers south of the capital Ashgabat, Arkadag is the embodiment of futuristic urban design. It’s not just the $3.3 billion investment that is turning heads, but also the city’s unique regulations and characteristics. The cityscape is dominated by white, seven-story high apartment blocks, symbolizing the lucky number in Turkmenistan. Additionally, only electric vehicles are permitted, reinforcing the city’s commitment to environmental sustainability. This Turkmenistan smart city is also fully covered by 5G digital coverage, bringing the concept of connected cities to life.

The Concept and Vision Behind Arkadag

The vision for Arkadag comes from Turkmenistan’s former leader, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, whose concept of a smart city is now materializing. This project is not only an infrastructural marvel but also a tribute to his leadership and vision.

Turmenistan & The Future of Arkadag

The inaugural celebrations marked the completion of the city’s first development stage. However, the future holds more for Arkadag. The second stage is scheduled for completion by 2026, after which this futuristic smart city is expected to be home to around 70,000 residents.

Turkmenistan’s first smart city, Arkadag, is more than a development project; it’s a statement of intent and the country’s commitment to fostering urban eco-culture and ecological conservation. As we step into the future, it will be interesting to see how this pioneering city influences global urban development trends.

We invite our readers to share their thoughts and perspectives on this development. How do you think smart cities like Arkadag will shape the future of urban living? Leave your comments below.
