Enhancing Connectivity

The newly installed tower, designed and managed by Boingo Wireless, is a neutral-host cellular infrastructure. It marks a crucial step in providing advanced 5G coverage for major carriers like AT&T and Verizon. This enhancement is particularly vital for a remote location like the Helemano Military Reservation, which has faced challenges in achieving adequate connectivity. Further improvements, especially for T-Mobile customers, are anticipated to be completed by year-end.

Impact on Military Families and Operations

The presence of the 5G tower is much more than a technical upgrade. It profoundly affects the everyday lives of military personnel and their families stationed at Schofield Barracks and Wheeler Army Airfield.

“This infrastructure will provide our Soldiers and their families with reliable access to emergency services, facilitate communication with loved ones, and support the seamless conduct of daily business,” highlighted Lt. Col. Izabella Lundy, Commander of the 307th Expeditionary Signal Battalion – Enhanced.

Boingo’s Commitment to the Military

Boingo Wireless has long been recognized as the Department of Defense’s (DOD) trusted partner, offering vital cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity across more than 85 locations worldwide. The company’s dedication to building and managing technology-agnostic communication infrastructure caters to the unique needs of U.S. military bases, supporting both their daily life and mission-critical operations.

Celebrating the Milestone

The inauguration of the “Dragon” tower, as it’s been nicknamed, was celebrated on January 8, with a ceremony attended by notable military and corporate figures. Brig. Gen. Kevin Meisler, Col. Andrew Brokhoff, and many other distinguished guests marked the occasion, reflecting a collaborative effort in achieving this milestone.

Future Developments

Boingo Wireless doesn’t stop here. The Dragon tower is part of a larger initiative to expand connectivity throughout USAG Hawaii, with 13 new or in-progress cell towers slated to enhance the region’s wireless infrastructure significantly.

About Boingo Wireless

With a mission to simplify complex wireless challenges, Boingo Wireless, Inc. stands as a leader in designing, building, and managing converged, neutral host networks. Their impact spans from airports to military bases, proving their commitment to connecting people, business, and things in a rapidly evolving digital world.

Conclusion

The launch of the Boingo Wireless 5G tower at Helemano Military Reservation is more than a technological triumph; it’s a testament to the commitment to improving the lives of those who serve our nation.
